Let’s welcome the new president of One With The Ocean, Danielle Dattilio! You’ve seen her take the reins of making important announcements here on Facebook and on the Heylo app. Some things you should know about her: a lifelong swimmer, she competed in a full Ironman just months after her first swim in the ocean (with OWO, of course). She also took on the challenge of swimming the La Jolla Cove 10 Mile Relay all by herself. Not to mention the Tahoe crossings! DD, as her friends call her, is the best person for the job to help OWO grow as an organization, as we hope to add more coaches, locations, and fun community events. 

It goes without saying that OWO would not exist if not for Bryan Mineo, founder and now former president. It’s his stewardship and founding with OG members Meg Tobin, Greg Huntoon, and Andrew Marshall that brings us to where we are today: a community of open water enthusiasts who want to share the joyful experience of being in the water. Given an opportunity to focus on his grounding and family, he will still be involved with OWO in important ways and will be active on social media, so be sure to follow his Instagram @theswimmechanic. To Bryan: this is not a farewell, but rather, see you soon! 

 … and lest we forget to mention, Bryan went through grueling ocean lifeguard training earlier in 2023 and rescued many beachgoers while working as a lifeguard with Encinitas Lifeguard Association. Bravo!

Over the past several months, we've been collecting swim session footage and testimonials from OWO members to create a promotional film produced by our filmmaker friend Jay Lee who is an LA chapter OWO member. This film will be used to show potential donors and synergistic organizations what OWO is all about. We hope to grow the organization with more coaches and locations, fun events, and community outreach programs, and this film will be a great way to get the word out.
